Maltese Bichon Wins Spain’s Best Dog Contest

Maltese Bichon wins the competition for the best dog in Spain

In life, there are those who are more or less lucky, and that goes for both humans and animals. Some dogs, for example, are abandoned and wait at a shelter for some love. Others are trained as working dogs. Some spend their days on luxurious sofas. And there are also dogs that participate in canine contests. This is the case of Cinecitta Ian Somerhalder, a Maltese Bichon that was consecrated as the best dog among 4,000 dogs of 200 breeds, according to the decision of the judges of the 80th International Spring Exhibition, in Madrid.

Details about the canine contest that chose a Maltese Bichon as the best dog

The contest, organized by the Royal Canine Society of Spain (RSCE), was held within the “100×100 Mascota” fair. Cinecitta Ian Somerhalder was the undisputed winner of the ‘His Majesty The King’ trophy. The animal, a two-year-old male, originally from Italy, was introduced by coach Javier González Mendikote.

The animal’s owner, Macarena Rueda, a 17-year-old teenager, won the Young Presenters Contest ( Young Presenters ) and will be responsible for representing the RSCE at “Crufts”, one of the most important exhibitions in the world, which takes place in Birgmingham (UK).

Rueda introduced Hada, a female of the Breton Spaniel breed , who at three months was about to be sacrificed because of an illness, and had her life saved when the girl’s family decided to adopt her.

the human mania of competing

The human obsession with competing in different categories can be analyzed from different angles. Sometimes your goals are good and other times it’s just business. But let’s not delve into this topic here, which tends to give a lot of “cloth to sleeve”.

What seems to be clear is that neither Cinecitta Ian Somerhalder, nor Hada nor any other animal, matters to participate in these contests, nor to be declared as better or worse.

They would probably be much better off playing in the park or looking for a ball, sunbathing in the backyard, or getting dirty in the dirt. But these dogs must have spent much of their time without any of this in order to enter the contest and, if possible, win.

All dogs should be the best dog

A person who loves his pets certainly doesn’t need judges to consider that his furry dog is the best dog in the world, although he does not meet the morphological, aesthetic and behavioral requirements to be worthy of this qualification. Or maybe it doesn’t matter to you that your dog is the best. Just love him, care for him and enjoy his company.

But of course, whoever chooses to have a dog to participate in beauty contests is possibly measuring things with different parameters, not so much for the affection they may have for the pet.

In this regard, it is important to ensure that dogs participating in this type of competition are not exposed to any type of abuse.

Data on the Royal Canine Society of Spain

The Royal Canine Society of Spain was founded in 1911 with the aim of conserving, fostering and improving pure breeds of dogs of:

german shepherd puppy

  • grazing
  • Guard
  • Race
  • Job
  • Company
  • Persecution
  • Hunting

However, currently this goal extends to all dog breeds.

In addition, it works for the setting and development in Spanish territory of different breeds of dogs of foreign origin, either by criteria of utility or beauty.

It would be good if one of its premises also mentions the right of all dogs to have a good life, instead of qualifying them or not to participate in the competitions that are usually organized.
