How many times have you caught your dog sleeping on its back and couldn’t help but laugh? Certainly, you were curious to see your friend totally relaxed with his belly in the air, his face wrinkled and his paws spread.

Besides being very funny, this position is an excellent sign. To sleep on their backs,  dogs must feel completely safe and comfortable in their environment.

Shaking an object frantically while grabbing it

In everyday life, one of the fun things dogs do is shake their heads frantically when grabbing an object. Chances are, your pet has already had this behavior with one of the toys and you have associated this act with feeling excited.

However,  this is a primitive behavior of dogs, which is associated with their natural hunting instinct. When catching prey in the wild, dogs do exactly that movement of shaking it strongly with their head.

For these reasons,  we should not be scared or confuse this instinctive behavior with a behavioral problem, such as aggression in dogs.

chase its own tail

The act of chasing one’s tail is quite common among dogs  and can seem very funny to their owners. If your dog eventually exhibits this behavior, he may be doing it to get your attention or when he’s anxious to walk or play.

However,  when this becomes a habit, owners should be very careful. Daily or constant repetition of this behavior is a sign of chronic stress, anxiety or nervousness in dogs.

In fact,  chasing or biting your own tail is one of the most common curiosities in dogs.  These compulsive behaviors can lead to self-mutilation and harm the animal’s physical and mental health.

Therefore, if you notice that your dog chases its tail constantly or repetitively, we recommend that it be taken immediately to a veterinarian specializing in canine ethology.

fetch the toy

The game of fetching the ball – or another toy – is also one of the funniest things dogs do. This classic, everyday activity becomes a laughing matter when the dog tries to pick up an object that hasn’t been dropped.

We already know that all dogs are full of energy and love to play. When we throw a ball or other object, we awaken their hunting instinct. For this reason, the classic game of fetch and bring the ball is a favorite of all dogs.

Have you ever ‘tricked’ your dog into believing you had thrown the ball? Many dogs run off with all the energy to chase it, until they realize there is no ball to catch. Meanwhile, others look at us with an expression of extreme confusion, as if they don’t understand exactly what they’re supposed to do.

In both cases, the attitude of our best friends seems very funny to us. However,  it is not advisable to repeat this ‘deception’ as this can end up generating a feeling of frustration in the animal.

The purpose of chasing the ball, like any other game, is to stimulate your pet’s body and mind, not confuse or bore him.

Putting your head out during a car ride

When getting into a car, almost all dogs immediately try to stick their heads out of the window. This behavior is completely natural and occurs because of the dogs’ curiosity to detect the odors and stimuli in the environment.
