The greatest virtue of cinema lies in its ability to show real or fictional stories, whether of a human being or a dog,  and  enter them into the corresponding genre and turn them into a masterpiece, at least for a particular audience.

In the world of seventh art, Spain is one of the most avant-garde and prestigious countries in Europe,  thanks to a series of films, actors and directors, whose success has lit up the eyes of both the so-called old continent and the world market. Likewise, there is also the privilege of having the best-known canine actor today.

It is Cook, the dog that was the protagonist of the movie  Pancho, the millionaire dog,  which became a real success, which managed to raise almost 3 million euros at the box office alone.

Far from being a film whose grace is limited to the tenderness of animals, this film has an excellent plot that has suited the family comedy genre very well, meaning that  anyone of any age can watch this film without any hassle.

It also  has a pleasant cast in which actresses such as Patricia Conde and Maria Castro stand out, who are well known by the Spanish audience for their appearance in different films, events, television programs and series.

Pancho, the millionaire dog,  is about the fun adventures of a cute and accommodating dog, who sees his life shift from a succession of extravagant pleasures to continual family changes after his original owner had to give him up for adoption.

From this moment on, the little one goes through a series of interesting events, where we can see him playing different roles in which he shows his most tender and graceful side. Despite having comedic moments, action and emotions to the surface,  this film is basically about the importance of friendship between dogs and humans.

Written and directed by Tom Fernández, this film achieved a success that goes far beyond what it managed to earn. After the end of its golden age,  dog cinema was able to be reborn again, thanks to Pancho’s adventures,  which demonstrate the intelligence and courage of this director.

However, all focuses point to the main protagonist.

If anyone is to blame for the success of this movie, it is the actor who played the role of the dog.

This is a beautiful 15-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Cook, who became a celebrity in Spain and around the world,  both for his appearance in different TV series and commercials, and for his incredible ability to act and do some tricks. .

Its owners are Antonio and his wife Yolanda, who have trained him since the dog began to be part of the family,  when the furry little one was only 4 months old.

From then on, his life became a routine of love, attention and training, to the point  where Cook now earns nothing more and nothing less than 500 euros a day of shooting.

His fame managed to be so great that he was present at the prestigious Goya Awards  in 2010.

Although this was the first film the little one starred in,  Cook also had a supporting role in  Carlota’s Diary  and in some series.

Far from being a type of film directed only at children, these types of works are also very important for adults,  as they educate us about how dogs are so unique and spectacular.
